As severe flooding hit Redding and Northern California on Christmas week, animal rescuers urged people to keep their pets and livestock safe during storms. "Because pets are not permitted in public (evacuation) shelters ... go to a relative's or friend's home, or find a pet-friendly hotel," the city of Redding announced.
