There will be plenty of news of player movement and coaching turnover as new Penn State head coach Matt Campbell continues to build his 2026 coaching staff. Let’s start here today with Tuesday’s news that Campbell has added a couple more coaches from this Iowa State staff to his 2026 Penn State coaching staff.
Most recently, 247Sports and CBS reported that Penn State is targeting USC defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn, who would be a superb hire for Campbell's new staff. According to USC Trojans on SI, Lynn was scheduled to meet with the media this week ahead of the Alamo Bowl, but the program canceled that availability.
Dan Connor and Deion Barnes — on staff, and it appears he’s working on bringing in another to oversee the defense as a whole. Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reports that USC’s D’Anton Lynn is *the* target for Penn State’s incumbent defensive coordinator job.
Yes, Penn State is playing Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl after Christmas. But since Matt Campbell was named PSU head coach, the month of December largely has been about two things for the Lions’ program: Campbell’s 2026 coaching staff construction and PSU player opt-outs.
Nittany Lions safety King Mack discussed the ramifications of the audio leak and new coach Matt Campbell's plan for "changing the culture."
Mack said that a lack of leadership and buy-in led to Penn State falling way short of lofty preseason expectations and going 6-6 in the regular season.
Iowa State stars and Houston Texans receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel raved to PennLive about Penn State's new OC, Taylor Mouser.
